Anyone been studying for it yet?

Can you be the one to judge it all?

I only do unit 1/2, so I'm not too stressed.

what's it like in year 12? I'm not sure if I want to keep it next year or not.

Did it last year. Its the bludge science biggrin

Gets marked down 2, i think. But it counts well toward your enter score if you can do reasonably well, and if you're studying chem/spec/meth/eng it apparently makes a good 5th subject because of the (comparatively) fairly low workload. I think i got 37 raw score or something.

just realised i spelt the thread wrong lol

its good, you learn a lot of interesting things. But i guess it depends on what you find interesting

its not hard and there isn't a lot of work but there it a lot you need to remember.

my exam for it is in a week, then the GAT

I like the subject, but the teacher leaves something to be desired.

A scenario that actually happened not too long ago:

She hands out weekly planners that say what's happening in class that week, homework, etc. Now, one happy thursday morning she says "Oh, I made a mistake on the plan: I think you have a sack on Wednesday." Quite a few people in the class (including me) wanted to strangle her.

She teaches units 3/4 so I can't hope for a better teacher next year either. So, I'm faced with the option of keeping it for the score, or dropping it for more private study time for the maths (spec and methods).

What do you guys suggest? Stick with it, go with it but be a lot more proactive about the subject (essentially treat it like distance education) or drop it? I'm not basing my decision off this (I still have half a year to consider it as well), but I would like to hear your thoughts.

Id say definitely go for it, if you've got a couple of other people at your school who are planning to do the same thing, or if you are really good at it.

Then again, I've had an extra private study period for a while now and it really helps. Id say if you think you can do well in methods/spec (spesh? ive always wondered how to spell that in a pronounceable way tongue ) then you should do psychology, but if you think you could gain more marks by having an extra private study then do that.

Its all about being a mark-whore biggrin

Fair enough. I'm pretty good with the maths, so I'll probably keep it. I hope it gets better than it currently is.

Thanks for the insight.

If you think it will get you higher marks you should.

if psych is going to be ur lowest mark then it will only help with around 3 for your aggregrate score. It is probably better to focus on spec(also wondered lol) and methods to get more out of them.

Or you could do psych by distance ed and not have to worry about the teacher.

I don't want to pick up another distance subject. I mean keeping it normally, but treating it like a distance education subject, and being one heck of a lot more self-directed about it.

My subjects this year are:

English
Software 3/4
Physics
Maths Methods
Advanced General Maths (We just call it spec 1/2, its mandatory - or at least strongly encouraged - at our school to do this before spec)
Psychology

Psych would have to be my weakest subject. I get decent marks in them all, but psych is the one I find the most challenging: It's a large class, and the teacher is far from the best.

I'll probably talk it over with our VCE person (whatever her title is) about it at the end of the year. If worst comes to worst, I can take unit 3 and drop it at the end of the semester if it doesn't work out.
