Regardless of how optimistic they are, the ship is sinking. As the corporate overlord sends the website to the crushing deep, the users will jump ship.

TPB started something that can't be stopped, but its still sad to see it die.

Its sad yes but such is the fate of most torrent sites, I really did think Piratepay would always be their though :/
I use demonoid at the moment but its not the same.

Sad, yet not by any means a death knoll. Software piracy and the ideals of absolute freedom of information that come with it have existed since the days of the humble analogue modem and text-based ftp and email lists, TPB and similar just made it a part of pop culture, accessable to all.

It certainly publicized the issue. And yes, I know that its existed far longer than TPB, but TPB became one of the icons of the movement. It's just sad to watch the icon fade. Another will take it's place, but still...
